Blasted by years of wind and rain, this derelict old barn stands amongst the dark rocks of Blackstone edge in the pennines of Lancashire. Little shelter here from the bitter wind, just a frame for the passing sheep, it hangs on to its existance and creates a focal point for a painter of the environs of our times. The dark contrasts with the bright snow as the winter sun floods in creating a special light. This is my subject as an artist, showing watercolour in an almost photographic way. Some watercolour almost seem to paint themselves, I was on another plane when I produced this.
This Watercolour has won a major award in the INTERNATIONAL WATERCOLOUR MASTERS Competition and will be on show at The IWM exhibition at Lilleshall Hall in MAY 22.
